SPOTLIGHT: Ol' Skool Que & Lomito Gourmet

Civic Center EATS is packed every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday with so many incredible trucks that I had to do a double feature in this post.

There are four kinds of BBQ: Kansas, Memphis, Carolina and Texan. While Carolina is my personal favorite, I couldn’t help but indulge in the Texan style BBQ coming from Ol’ Skool Que.

Texan style often refers to Central Texas where it’s all about the beef, dry rubs & thin, bold sauces!

Stop by Ol’ Skool Que for a couple of poppers or a brisket sandwich. My one suggestion is opting for the mac n cheese as your side!

It’s hard to miss the big blue bus on Wednesdays, but if you’re a bit lost, simply close your eyes and follow the scent of delicious, smokey meats.

Award for most colorful truck goes to Lomito Gourmet. Take a trip to Peru with every bite or simply sip on an Inca Cola, soaking up the Colorado sunshine.

Their featured dish is the Lomo Saltado. Marinated steak, onions, tomatoes & a side of steamed rice.

Lomito Gourmet describes themselves as an experience, once filled with flavors not typically found in the US. Have you tried Peruvian food before? You might have and not even realized! For example, Ceviche was actually originated in Peru.

Staples of the Peruvian diet include potatoes, rice, soups, corn, and lots of meat. All found at Lomito Gourmet! Find them there every Thursday.
