SPOTLIGHT: High Point Creamery
I don’t know about you, but I crave ice cream 365 days a year and that craving only increases once the thermometer hits 70. Thankful that High Point Creamery makes an appearance on Wednesdays at Civic Center Eats.
We all have that go-to ice cream spot in Denver, and my personal favorite is the High Point Creamery located inside Denver Central Market. When I freelanced, I spent many a day working at DCM, usually ending with a scoop of ice cream to celebrate whatever good thing happened that day!
What draws me most to them are two things: flavor & creaminess. Their flavors range from Early Grey with Shortbread (all-time fav) to Brown Cinnamon Sugar & Blueberry Lemon. Basically, they’re classic flavors with enough of a twist to have you intrigued. Then they absolutely wow you with the first bite because the flavor is natural, present and lingers a little on your taste buds.
In 2017, I attended a Fuck Up Nights event where HPC owner, Erika Thomas spoke. She told a ridiculously hilarious story about being an extra Law & Order: Criminal Intent. When it came time for her to be on screen with the show’s star, she farted…right in his face. Stars – they’re just like us!
Honestly, I loved Erika’s ice cream before that night and I love it just a little bit more because I know how real and down to earth she is. PS – HPC recently celebrated their 5th birthday! One more reason for some ice cream.
Next time you’re at Civic Center Eats, be sure to pick up a scoop from High Point Creamery!
This Summer, I’m partnering with Civic Center EATS to highlight Denver’s incredible food trucks! This is a paid partnership, however all views expressed are my own.
Civic Center EATS is Denver’s Favorite annual lunch tradition! Enjoy delicious food, gorgeous views, live music, beer & wine garden all for a great cause! Civic Center EATS 2019 takes place in Civic Center Park from 11 am to 2 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from April 30th through October 10th (excluding July 2nd, 3rd & 4th; August 7th, 28th & 29th; September 3rd & 12th).* Civic Center EATS is produced by the nonprofit Civic Center Conservancy, who welcomes back Westword as presenting sponsor.
